Origins

In 2003, English professor Dr. Jonathan Post journeyed to an indigenous village in West Africa to show how we make beer and learn how they make beer. Afterwards, the shamans invited him into the divination room.

“The spirits say you are a beer diviner,” the diviners said.

“What’s a beer diviner?” asked Dr. Post.

“We have no idea. There’s never been a beer diviner in the village. You have to figure it out for yourself.”

Back in the States, Dr. Post researched the history of beer and discovered how beer may very well be the reason for agriculture and hence, “civilization.” He decided to build a small brewery at the bottom of his property, said goodbye to academia and has been brewing towards the answer ever since.

The first farm brewery in New York State. The New York State Farm Brewery Bill was designed to increase demand for locally grown products and create new businesses surrounding the brewing industry. Under the law, the beer must be made primarily from locally grown farm products (at least 60% starting in 2019).
